About AEDE

Department ChairOhio State University's Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics is a unique contributor to Ohio's economy, people of the world, and the economics profession. We use our special blend of applied economics and business principles to address the challenges of agriculture, the food system, the environment, and the development of the world's economy.

Excellence is our goal. Our faculty expect to be on the cutting edge - studying current issues with the latest tools. An impressive record of securing grants and endowments helps fund research, applied education, and scholarly activity. Our teaching skill is recognized on campus and throughout the profession.

We can judge excellence by the high level of academic citations achieved by our faculty. Or the accomplishments of 90 Ph.D. graduates in the 1990s. We can look at how often we advise leaders of state and industry. We can try to gauge the excitement of discovery felt by our students. And we can point to farms, businesses and communities throughout the world who have used our recommendations and been better off for it.
